About the Course

Most sales pros "get" the technical side of selling. There have been countless books written on the psychology of sales, closing techniques, scripts, and other tools to help get the client to sign a

contract or purchase order.

We've also been told to get the client to the point where they "Like, Trust, and Respect" us, so that the sale flows naturally to the close.

That's all well and good, but how do we do that? By taking them to coffee or lunch? How about a ballgame? Drinks? Clients don't care about that stuff.

Clients want more. They want a LEADER!

Ah! But there's the problem.

How do you define LEADERSHIP? Is it yelling? NO! Do you have to be 6'5" and 300 pounds of solid muscle? NO! How about being a certain gender? NO!

It's all about ATTITUDE. That's all. As simple as it sounds, it will take some work. But I know that you can handle it. You wouldn't be reading this if you weren't willing to put in the necessary effort.

This course has been written using the US Marine Corps' 14 Leadership Traits as the foundation. The Marine Corps has a fine reputation for producing top-notch leaders. Each individual Trait is presented in the context of sales and client satisfaction.

Who needs to learn to lead?

New Sales Pros

Selling can be a daunting task. Part of the problem that new sales pros encounter is their own negative thoughts about sales. The Sales Leadership course will show new sales pros that sales is about helping clients, not taking advantage. And you'd better believe that clients can smell a sales pro who is only out for the money.

Mid-Level Sales Pros

Sales pros at this stage understand prospecting and closing tactics. They know "what to do." But, they are not usually seen as strategic partners by the client. These pros need to learn how to lead. Once the client gets a taste of that sweet leadership, they're hooked! Leaders are seen as indispensable by the client and are patched in to many major client decisions.

Sales Managers

Sales managers have been around the block. Many are excellent salespeople, and were promoted into their current role because of great productivity. But, because sales can often be a "lone wolf" job, they don't know how to lead others. What does the course cover?

This course will show you how leadership can give you the edge when selling. You probably know the closing tricks, but selling isn't about trickery. It's about leadership. And this course will teach you how to do it in a way that will keep your clients attached to you.

How will this course help me earn more income?

The first step in improving leadership skills is by understanding what leadership means! We'll start with the US Marine Corps' acronym so you can KNOW where to focus your efforts.

Do you work with clients remotely or in-person?

The course has been designed for you to use on your own and at your own pace. We recommend taking 6-8 weeks, but we all learn differently.

There is homework, but it's more about pondering your own work situation and how you can improve yourself in the Leadership Traits and apply them to your own case.

We don't check homework. If you've decided to join the course, you're clearly motivated to do what's necessary to become more successful without having to be checked.

One-on-one coaching is available upon request only for students of the course.

Is this course suitable for beginners?

The Leadership Traits were designed for the ultimate beginner: Brand new Marine Corps recruits fresh out of high school.

One of the biggest hurdles faced by new, relatively inexperienced salespeople is a lack of trust by prospects. Prospects simply don't know if you will be able to fulfill the order.

Leadership skills cut through that lack of trust by demonstrating to the prospect that you have their best interests at heart. So, yes. This course is VITAL for helping the new salesperson get on the right track early in their career.

Is this course suitable for experienced salespeople?

No matter how much companies pay lip service to teamwork, sales is very much a solitary effort. Yes, you may have a team supporting you, but salespeople are very competitive.

Sales is like pro athletics in that we keep stats. These stats are used to pay commissions and awards. Every salesperson wants to be the "Salesperson of the Year." That can create a lone wolf attitude.

Learning to lead will help experienced salespeople close even more deals. And if selected to lead a sales team, will give the new leader the tools to effectively manage and guide the team to greater income levels and customer satisfaction.

Can I use the principles in this course in non-sales situations?

Here's the beauty of learning to lead: It's not just about selling at work. Humans can sense great leadership.

Because we're herd animals, we tend to form groups and we're drawn to people with genuine leadership skills. Some people are lucky, and their circumstances taught them to lead. The problem is that isn't a controllable or predictable way to learn to lead.

The military realized long ago that leadership is TRAINABLE. There's no such thing as a "Natural Born Leader." Doesn't exist. Leadership is learned. Now it's time for you to learn!
